This used to be my go to garage, very honest and very helpful. However we have had 2 of our vehicles inspected and passed here and ended up needing brakes (which they never caught). In February we had our Equinox inspected and it passed but I kept telling my husband something didn't feel right with the front brakes so we decided to take it to another garage closer to home and we were told it needed front brakes. Okay fine maybe it was a one off, until July came along. We took our Volkswagen and got it inspected, only thing it needed...rear tires which we got on and they re-inspected and it passed. A week later I was driving the Volkswagen and had to put the brake on the floor to get the car to stop. Again, we took it to the garage closer to our house and were told it needed rotors and brake pads all the way around that the garage that inspected it should have caught that and not passed the vehicle. Our report from goods said one set we would need to assess in 3 months and the other 6 months.

Renee, Thank you for giving the feedback. We value all feedback both positive and negative. I reviewed the records on both vehicles. The failing standard for brake pad thickness for PA State Inspection is below 2/32”. The Equinox brakes were all at 7/32” and above. It is possible that the strange feel was coming from warped brake rotors. Warped brake rotors that cause a slight brake shake are not cause for an Inspection failure. At the time of Inspection, the brakes were good. On the Volkswagen, the brake readings were all at 4/32”. Having the brake pedal go to the floor is not consistent with brake pad / rotor failure. While brakes are part of the State Inspection, there are many brake parts that the internal workings are not able to be seen or inspected. A master cylinder or ABS controller issue can cause brake pedal fade. We at Good’s Auto service take the responsibility and liability of the PA State Inspection program very seriously. We want to ensure your vehicle is safe, yet, we do not want to sell repairs that are not required. I called and left a message for you. I would like to find out more about this situation. Please call 717-626-4329. Thank you, Craig Good, owner.

Love these guys. Customer service is always 100%. I always leave feeling like I got quality service at a fair price. The newsletter always has something funny or a silly photoshopped picture of the staff that cracks me up, too.

I moved to Lititz last year and needed to find a good mechanic and auto shop to assist when needed for my 2005 Honda Accord. A friend recommended Good's and I used them twice recently and could not be more pleased with their quality of service and fair prices. The people who work in this family business are pleasant, trust worthy and obviously know what they are doing. I give Good's a strong recommendation for anyone needing car repair and that's not easy to earn in the automotive care industry.
